Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

According to American Cancer Society, around 90% of breast cancer cases are likely caused by lifestyle and environmental factors.

Here are some tips to live a more preventative lifestyle!

Move Your Body

Just 30 minutes of exercise 3-5 times a week can lower your risk of breast cancer by 30-50%!

Although exercise might not be your favorite thing to do, it sure makes a positive impact on your overall health. And the best feeling comes once you’ve completed the workout and realize it wasn't so bad!

Check Yourself

Around 40% of diagnosed breast cancers are detected by women who discover their own lumps!

Once you get out of the shower, look in the mirror and check your breasts. This way you can easily see the full area of your body as you check.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

Vitamin D is so important for your health and helps to boost your mood!

Eat your lunch outside, walk your pup to the park or take a nice morning walk. Make sure you get to spend a little time outdoors everyday.

Less Stress

Long term stress can encourage tumor growth. Make sure you are taking time for yourself and seeking support if you need it.

Take a warm bubble bath, seek finding a therapist and most importantly learn it’s okay to say ‘no’ to things that don’t make you happy.

Healthy Eating

Women who eat a fiber rich diet are 54% less likely to get breast cancer...yep, you read that right!

Visit your local farmers market and stock up on nutrient rich fruits and veggies for the week! Yummy and delicious.

Skip the Plastic

Bisphenol A (BPA) and Phthalates are toxins found in many plastics that have links to breast cancer and other health problems.

Next time you are at the store make sure to purchase a thermos that you can keep and carry your water in throughout the day.
